Percentage = (Obtained Marks ÷ Total Marks) × 100

Example

If you score 425 marks out of 500:

(425 ÷ 500) × 100 = 85%

This means your percentage is 85%.

How to calculate percentage from marks

To calculate your marks percentage, divide the marks you obtained by the maximum marks and multiply the result by 100.

What marks do I need for a target percentage?

For a target percentage, multiply the total marks by the target percentage and divide by 100.

Required Marks = (Total Marks × Target Percentage) ÷ 100

Percentage vs percentage points

If your score changes from 60% to 70%, the increase is 10 percentage points. The percentage increase relative to the original 60% is 16.67%. These are different measurements.
