What is Chartered Accountancy (CA)?
The Chartered Accountancy course is administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Under the New Scheme of Education and Training, the course has Foundation, Intermediate and Final levels, along with required training and other components prescribed by ICAI.
Current structure: ICAI's New Scheme retains
Foundation, Intermediate and Final and includes Self-Paced Online Modules and
practical training requirements. Always check ICAI's current announcements for
registration, examination and training rules.
CA route after Class 10 / 12

What subjects are involved?
- Foundation includes Accounting, Business Laws, Quantitative Aptitude and Business Economics.
- Intermediate covers areas including Advanced Accounting, Corporate and Other Laws, Taxation, Cost and Management Accounting, Auditing and Ethics, Financial Management and Strategic Management.
- Final includes Financial Reporting, Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Auditing, Direct and International Taxation, Indirect Tax Laws and Integrated Business Solutions, according to the current scheme.
Who may be suited to CA?
CA can suit students who enjoy accounting, taxation, business law, finance, analysis and disciplined long-term study. Commerce is a natural fit for many students, but the course should be evaluated on its own eligibility and subject requirements rather than by stream stereotypes.
