What is JEE Main?
JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency and is a major national entrance examination for undergraduate engineering and related programmes. The current NTA information structure includes Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech and Paper 2A for B.Arch and Paper 2B for B.Planning.

Who should consider JEE Main?
- Students targeting B.E. or B.Tech admissions through institutions/counselling routes that use JEE Main.
- Students targeting B.Arch or B.Planning through the applicable JEE Main paper and admission rules.
- Students who may use JEE Main as the route toward eligibility for JEE Advanced, subject to the current year's rules.

JEE Main vs JEE Advanced
JEE Main and JEE Advanced are different examinations. JEE Main is conducted by NTA; JEE Advanced is conducted by one of the IITs under the JEE (Advanced) system. Admission routes and eligibility should always be checked against the current year's official rules.
Preparation strategy
- Finish the syllabus systematically rather than studying only high-profile chapters.
- Practise previous questions and timed papers.
- Track accuracy separately from speed.
- Use mock-test analysis to identify recurring mistakes.
- Keep alternative engineering, science and diploma pathways in mind.
